Hi and welcome to Sage’s Health Store. I thought I’d take this opportunity to introduce myself and tell you a little about my story.

I’m Sage; I’m a qualified pharmacist with over 20 years of experience in the industry and have a passion for natural health and wellbeing.

Back in 2003 I bought an independent pharmacy in Covent Garden. It was here that I hired a herbalist/naturopath and introduced food intolerance testing, reiki, reflexology and homeopathy.

I now believe strongly that good health comes from both what we put in and, also importantly, on our bodies.

Within five years I’d replaced my entire stock with natural products: think shampoos, body washes, skincare, makeup and even dental floss! I also started recommending natural alternatives for health care instead of conventional medicines.

In 2017 I decided I wanted to do something closer to home to follow my passion: I’ve lived in Surbiton all my life and absolutely love the area, so I knew that this would be the dream location for a new business.

Jean’s Café is a small, family run coffee shop. Owned by Sarah and Zoe James, it’s named after Sarah’s mother and Zoe’s grandmother, Jean, who left a small legacy to Sarah and Zoe that helped them embark on their dream of having a cafe.

We’ve chosen all our suppliers very carefully, with award winning cakes from the wonderful Andy and Russell at Pinnocks in Ripley, to bread and pastries from The Ginger Bread Man bakery in Walton on Thames. And we’ve handpicked the range of pasta, olive oil, biscuits, jams, chutneys, etc, we sell, including handmade biscuits from Heavenly Biscuits and honey from Sam the honey man, both of whom are Surbiton locals.

And the local aspect is something that’s incredibly important to us. Our aim wasn’t just to open a café, it was to build something for the community, where everyone feels welcome, can meet new people and come and be entertained. About Joanna Blundell

Joanna enjoys sharing the benefits of yoga with everyone – and all people are welcome in her classes. She feels her best after yoga practice, whether a slow, moving meditation or a strong physical practice. She wants to encourage others to experience the same sense of peace and inspiration that comes from moving the body led by the breath and the calming of the mind.

She teaches vinyasa and hatha classes inspired by many traditions, from the ancient to the modern. Classes are beneficial to body and mind – strong and precise, increasing balance, flexibility and strength. She links the breath to each movement and encourages the mind to settle with clear and detailed instruction. She pays close attention to alignment, encouraging and empowering each person to honour and protect their body by always working at their own pace.

She believes the practice of yoga can positively influence how we live in many ways. It helps us to feel less alone and part of a community which begins by connecting first to ourselves and then to the world around us, including other sentient creatures, and the Earth and its elements, of which we are guardians. We learn to slow down, pay attention and clear away obstacles – whether physical, mental or spiritual – to find greater compassion and clearer vision. Joanna teaches yoga as a transformative practice that can promote health, wellbeing and joy. She honours and thanks all her teachers.

She is a 500-hour registered yoga teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance. She started teaching in 2013 in Qatar and leads classes, courses, workshops and special events. When not teaching yoga, she works in TV News for major international broadcasters.

Established in 2005 the school has been providing drum kit and percussion tuition in the Surbiton & Kingston Upon Thames area to students of all ages, abilities and ambitions. Recently expanded, the school is now taking on new students throughout the Surrey region and offering new courses and services in all aspects of playing the drums.

From your very first lesson you’ll be playing grooves and fills on a full drum kit and building your abilities through the lessons at your own pace along to the music that you like to listen to and aspire to play.

The sense of achievement from passing your grades and getting the certificates is amazing. They are a great and very enjoyable way of developing your abilities and there are grade levels for every level of ability.

If you want to lessons purely for the enjoyment and satisfaction of learning a new instrument and a new skill, then that’s a great reason to start. That was my first motivation for picking up the drumsticks as well as many other drummers I know. It’s an immensely satisfying instrument on many different levels.
