Jean’s Café is a small, family run coffee shop. Owned by Sarah and Zoe James, it’s named after Sarah’s mother and Zoe’s grandmother, Jean, who left a small legacy to Sarah and Zoe that helped them embark on their dream of having a cafe.
We’ve chosen all our suppliers very carefully, with award winning cakes from the wonderful Andy and Russell at Pinnocks in Ripley, to bread and pastries from The Ginger Bread Man bakery in Walton on Thames. And we’ve handpicked the range of pasta, olive oil, biscuits, jams, chutneys, etc, we sell, including handmade biscuits from Heavenly Biscuits and honey from Sam the honey man, both of whom are Surbiton locals.
And the local aspect is something that’s incredibly important to us. Our aim wasn’t just to open a café, it was to build something for the community, where everyone feels welcome, can meet new people and come and be entertained. That’s why we hold our storytelling and story writing evenings, which you can read more about here.
